When dealing with Bill of Materials (BOM), it might be necessary to make changes by replacing, adding, or removing a component to/from the Bill of Materials. Once again, MISys has a shortcut that allows for completing this process in a systematic way, instead of going through each BOM manually.

Sometimes it might be necessary to change the Supplier No. or Location No. in MISys in much the same way as it might be necessary to change the Item No. The good news is that the process to achieve this is the same as Changing Item No., as was outlined in my previous two blog posts (see Changing Item No. - Part 1 & Changing Item No. - Part 2).

Following from Part 1 of ‘Changing Item No.’ blog, let’s see how to make changes to a range of items’ Item No., instead of a single item.

Sometimes it might be necessary to change the Item No. you have been using in MISys. Many times, this is the case when item numbers have originally been created without any specific naming convention and now, we want to rectify that.

MISys allows users to set a specific unit of measure for each supplier of an item that might be different than the Stock Unit of Measure (UoM) of that item. This is referred to as the Purchase Unit of Measure (PUoM).

One of the most important points of consideration when setting up Item Masters in MISys is the ‘Sales Item No.’ field, which allows MISys and the Accounting System (SAGE, QB etc.) to sync item masters.

Manufacturers are migrating to digital documents that prevent problems associated with printed copies. In MISys, opening the latest digital doc from a file share is achieved with a single click.

MISys EXT is a great interface for printing labels for MISys transactions. In this example a custom label has been created called ‘Receiving’ and set as the default when items are received against a Purchase Order.

Sometimes it may be necessary to change the ‘Item Type’ of an item after a while. However, if certain conditions are not met, this will not be possible to do.

MISys requires an ‘Item Type’ to be assigned to each item as Raw Material, Resource, Assembled, Bulk Issue or Outside Processing. However, sometimes it may be necessary to change the ‘Item Type’ of an item after a while.

For companies that maintain sales inventory for a customer facing retail or distribution presence, MISys can maintain Sales Stock to pre-defined levels. In turn that sales stock qty provides the sales team with visibility of on hand inventory that can be shipped directly from the warehouse when customers are placing orders.

One of the tabs available in the Item Master File is the ‘Stock Movement’ tab. The information on this tab looks like pretty simple information to understand, but it may not be exactly what you think it is. It’s important to fully understand what the displayed data refers to.
