Data that is not included as a standard field in a MISys table can potentially be added as a custom field.
For example, Bills of Material often have an associated documents including diagrams that provide step by step instructions for production. If the document is specific to an operation, a custom field can be added for the network path of the document that can be accessed from the Bill of Material or Manufacturing Order Routing tab. Then, if a scheduler needs to print the document for attachment to the Shop Traveler can access the document simply by clicking the link.
1. Add the document custom field to the Bill of Material Routing details and the Mfg. Order Routing Details. Then when Creating a Manufacturing Order, the custom field data will be carried over.
2. Select ‘File Path’ and save.
The directory link is active for any MISys client with security access to the network path, therefore, when clicked, the document will open.
